These terms govern your use of metta.cards, published by Mettā Publications, Aotearoa New Zealand ("Mettā", "we", "us", "our"). By using metta.cards you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.
metta.cards is a free web app for reading the mettā deck: you draw a card, turn it over, and read the verse. The whole deck can be drawn, browsed and read without an account and without payment. The printed deck is a separate product, sold at metta.pub.
A copy of the deck is kept in your browser so the cards keep working offline. That copy is a convenience, not a guarantee of availability.
An account is optional. Nothing about reading the deck requires one. If you create an account:
We may suspend or close an account that is being used to break these terms, and we will tell you why unless we are prevented from doing so.
Please do not:
Sharing a single card with a friend, or quoting a verse with credit, is welcome — that is what the deck is for.
The verses, the card designs, the mettā mark and the site itself belong to Mettā Publications or are used with permission. You may read, draw and share the cards for your own personal, non-commercial use. Everything beyond that needs our written permission.
These terms do not currently cover content authored by users, because metta.cards does not yet accept any. If that changes, we will update this section before the feature opens.
We aim to keep metta.cards available, but it is offered as it is. We may change, suspend or discontinue any part of it, and we do not promise uninterrupted or error-free service.
metta.cards is free. There is no subscription and nothing to buy here. If we ever introduce a paid feature, its price and its refund terms will be set out before you are asked to pay, and nothing you already have will be moved behind a paywall.
The site links to metta.pub and may link to other sites. We are not responsible for their content or their practices.
The verses are offered as reflection and encouragement. They are not medical, psychological, legal or financial advice, and they are not a substitute for professional care. If you are struggling, please talk to someone qualified to help.
Nothing in these terms limits your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 or the Fair Trading Act 1986 where those Acts apply to you. Subject to that, and to the fullest extent the law allows, Mettā is not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of metta.cards, and our total liability in connection with the site is limited to NZ$100.
Where you are using metta.cards for business purposes, the Consumer Guarantees Act does not apply.
We may update these terms. The date at the top of this page shows when they last changed, and continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated terms. If a change is significant and you have an account, we will tell you.
These terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand, and the New Zealand courts have non-exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute.
